Cascade has won gold and silver medals at the renowned Great American Beer Festival. The website Beeradvocate characterizes the brewery as World Class, which is underlined by a very rare rating of 100 points.
These raving ratings are the result of brewmaster Ron Gansberg’s urge to pioneer. Cascade was already aging its beers in one or more wooden barrels long before barrel aging became a trend in the craft beer scene. Gansberg also uses lactic fermentation. His experience results mostly in sour fruit beers of unprecedented quality.
Cascade keeps reinventing itself. Per beer only ten to twenty barrels are made. In general, Gansberg only brews each of his beers once. The result mainly goes into the two taprooms of the brewery and owner Art Lawrence’s favourite strip club. Only sporadically do the beers leave the brewery in bottles or casks.
